Understanding Epilepsy

Emmit Donaldson and his family became part of the Epilepsy Alliance Florida family via research on the internet by his mother and through a neurologist recommendation. The major obstacle this family faced was not knowing anything about Epilepsy and they were in desperate need of understanding.
Emmit’s mother has participated in Tea Time With an Epilepsy Specialist (Epilepsy Alliance Florida Webinar) and Epilepsy Alliance Florida Parent Support Groups. These services have expanded her knowledge understanding of what is required to be a caregiver to someone living with Epilepsy. It has also been a huge help to know others who are going through similar situations. She expresses that understanding what Emmit goes through when he has a seizure has helped the family a whole lot. The most significant change for their family has been gaining knowledge and of course the sense of community provided by the Epilepsy Alliance Florida support groups. Knowing they are not alone in all of this has helped them endure.
Epilepsy Alliance Florida has assisted the family with providing a one-time supply of meal replacement supplements for Emmitt. We have also facilitated a medical Id bracelet for Emmit. The mother is very grateful for all we have done for Emmit and what she has learned from Epilepsy Alliance Florida. She plans to continue participating in our program and hopefully being there to reach out to other families who need the knowledge and understanding she has gained.
