A Little Support Can Go a Long Way

Ramona Rodriguez has been part of Epilepsy Alliance Florida since 1997, after coming from another country she has found the support she’s been seeking. Ramona arrived from Cuba with only a few months of medication and no access to medical attention for her epilepsy.  She was receiving assistance for other services from a Catholic organization when one day she mentioned to them she was low on her antiepileptic medication, they immediately referred her to Epilepsy Alliance Florida. With Epilepsy Alliance Florida Ramona was able to receive the medical attention she needed for her epilepsy and had access to her medications. Ramona would have 3 to 4 seizures a month but after working with the neurologist they were able to find a good balance for her medications. Ramona’s seizures are now more controlled, as of now Ramona is one-year seizure free. Ramona attends Epilepsy Alliance Florida support groups regularly as well as other activities like the walk with her entire family who is always there to support her. Ramona stated she use to be shy about her epilepsy, she felt very alone but after attend Epilepsy Alliance Florida support groups and activities she no longer feels alone, she feels supported. She is forever grateful for all the love and support she continues to receive from Epilepsy Alliance Florida.
