Jayla Booker, a 16-year-old athlete, has faced a life-changing challenge since her epilepsy diagnosis in 2021. However, she has not allowed this to deter her from pursuing her passion for gymnastics. Instead, Jayla has continued to thrive in the sport, reaching the highest level in the USA Gymnastics Junior Olympics program—level 10. Her story is one of resilience, strength, and inspiration.

Jayla’s dedication to gymnastics has led her to achieve remarkable success. In January 2023, she claimed 1st place at the prestigious Sand Dollar Invitational in Orlando, Florida, demonstrating her exceptional talent and determination. Later that year, she secured 2nd place at the Tim Rand Invitational in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. These accomplishments are just a few highlights of Jayla’s ten-year journey in gymnastics, during which she has amassed numerous accolades, all while managing the complexities of living with epilepsy.

Jayla’s journey is not just about her success in gymnastics; it is a testament to her unwavering spirit and determination to overcome obstacles. Her story serves as a beacon of hope and inspiration to others who may face similar challenges. Despite the difficulties posed by her condition, Jayla has shown that with dedication, passion, and support, it is possible to achieve great things.

Jayla and her mother, Jennifer, are proud members of the Epilepsy Alliance Florida family.
