Jayla Booker: A Gymnast's Journey of Resilience and Inspiration
Meet Jayla Booker, a remarkable 16-year-old gymnast whose determination and passion shine brightly, even in the face of epilepsy. In 2021, Jayla’s life took an unexpected turn when she was diagnosed with epilepsy. However, she refused to let this diagnosis dim her dreams. Instead, Jayla has continued to pursue her passion for gymnastics with unwavering dedication, reaching the prestigious Level 10 in the USA Gymnastics Junior Olympics program—the highest level in the program.
Jayla’s journey in gymnastics is nothing short of inspiring. Over the years, she has achieved numerous accolades, including winning 1st place at the Sand Dollar Invitational in Orlando, Florida, in January 2023, and securing 2nd place at the Tim Rand Invitational in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, later that year. With over a decade of experience in gymnastics, Jayla’s love for the sport continues to fuel her success, despite the challenges epilepsy presents.
While Jayla faces many obstacles in managing her condition, she remains a beacon of hope and inspiration to those around her. Her ability to persevere and excel in gymnastics, while also uplifting others, showcases her incredible strength and resilience.
Jayla and her mother, Jennifer, are proud members of the Epilepsy Alliance Florida (EAFLA) family. Together, they continue to navigate this journey with courage and positivity. We wish Jayla and her family continued success and happiness as they move forward.
